Gardening and selling food crops in bulk is a quick and reliable way of making large amounts of Ancient Coins. (Heart Berries and Mushrooms are an exception to this however). Using those crops to craft bait is even more profitable.
Spare equipment, cooked food, boss and ore-typed Chests, and outdated crafting stations can be a good payout of Coins as well.
