Defeating King Slime

King Slime is an optional Boss generally fought earlier in the game. It is part of a crossover with Terraria.

Unlike all other Slime Bosses, King Slime does not spawn with world generation. Instead, he spawns when you place a Crown Summoning Idol on any of their runes.

Gear[]

At this point in progression (Forgotten Ruins and beyond) You will have access to a variety of weapons and armor for most classes.

Currently Summoning only has three weapons, and only one of those is accessible pre-great wall.

Iron armor is best for a classless approach due to it boosting all attack damage and good health/defense. Physical damage receives good bonuses from the Caveling armor or Hivebone armor. For Magic, the Soaring armor works well, it also boosts speed making it a more viable armor. And the Chieftain armor is best for summoner as it greatly increases number of summoned units.

For weaponry the battle axe is an extremely good choice for melee due to its high damage and wide area attacks enabling you to hit nearby attacking royal slimes. The arcane staff is good for focusing on King Slime in multiplayer, but due to the number of royal slimes the fireball staff or the sticky stick are better options. The Grubzooka is an effective range weapon due to its piercing projectiles. The only summoning weapon is still the tome of the dark|, which is not very effective unless you have a summoner armor set.

An Owlux pet is useful because it increases movement speed and damage.

Consumables/Food[]

As with Glurch and Ghorm, the yellow blister head is viable due to its slime debuff resistance effect. Using something with the dagger fin, pink palace fish, and teal palace fish are good for summoner, physical melee, and range respectively.

Healing potions are highly recommended, along with a heart berry and crown squid combo, or if you wish for something easier do a heart berry and dagger fin combo.

Note. The Crown Squid are epic rarity fish, meaning they are hard to obtain.

Arena Setup[]

As any slime boss arena can be used, you can choose which one you want to fight it at. For convenience, Glurch's arena is the best. Start by clearing all ground slime from the area. Then expand the arena a bit, no more than 25 tiles away from the rune. If you are using the sticky stick, set up numerous dirt pillars for ricochet.

Note. King Slime destroys all walls in his path, so it is best to either place the pillars in outer areas or keep the arena smaller with no pillars.

The Battle[]

It starts like Glurch's, with a large slime trying to leap onto you. But every 700 health, King Slime will summon a royal slime, which if not dealt with can accumulate and overwhelm you. Using a simple continuous movement strategy, you can avoid most of King Slime's jumps. Like most bosses, King Slime will get enraged and begin attacking faster at 30% health. You should use the battle axe or fireball staff on the royal slimes when you get the chance. The Grubzooka can quickly blow through a tight group of royal slimes as well. Continue to dodge and hurt King Slime while clearing away the royal slimes until King Slime is defeated.

Aftermath[]

Since King Slime is not necessary for progression, fighting him is only for fun or for obtaining his unique loot, such as the king slime crown or the oozy royal egg.
