This article is about the in-game map for viewing points-of-interest. For the game world itself, see world.
The map is a game mechanic that allows a player to view areas they have visited in the current world with the current character. The map can be displayed by pressing Toggle map or by pressing the map icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. In addition, a mini-map appears in the upper right corner of the player's GUI at all times, showing their current position and immediate environment.
Depending on the current stage of progression, the map will also display any active Portals, Ancient Waypoints and bosses that have had their respective scanner activated.
The Cartography Table grants players the ability to combine their maps together.
An interactive map of an example Core Keeper world is available here.
Markers can be placed by any player by pressing Ping map on a piece of the fullscreen map while it is opened. Pressing this button again while hovering over it will remove it.
A total of 512 markers (except pings) can be placed on the map. Attempting to place more than this will display the message "You have already placed the maximum amount of map markers."
