Basic house

A basic house with the Bearded Merchant inside.

Merchants are friendly creatures who serve as shopkeepers to the player. A merchant will move in when their respective spawn item is placed in a valid house.

Interacting with a merchant will open their shop menu. In the shop menu the player can purchase items with Ancient Coins, or sell items to obtain Ancient Coins. Each merchant has a limited stock of items, and it will take some time (see below) for their shop to refresh after one item is out of stock.

There are a total of 5 merchants and 5 respective spawning items in the game.

Housing requirements[]

In order for a room to be considered a "valid house", the following requirements must be met:

  • The room must be fully enclosed with solid walls (doors are considered walls).
  • The room must have no more than 64 tiles of floor space (making the maximum possible room size 8×8).
  • A Bed is placed anywhere inside. It can be shared as the player's spawn point.
  • At least one floor tile is free of furniture (making the minimum possible room size 2x2).

Neither lighting or a door are technically needed for a room to be considered valid.

Once all room requirements are met, and the merchant does not have an existing Bed set as their spawn point, they will arrive immediately.

Notes[]

  • Merchants will restock once every 25–35 minutes. The exact time is random, and different for every merchant.
