A roof light (also known as a ceiling hole) is a natural light source which generates from the ceiling of caves.
Outside of the Meadow biome and certain rare scenes, roof lights are nearly never found in the inner biomes of the world. Azeos' Wilderness, the Sunken Sea and the Desert of Beginnings contain roof lights in abundance.
Roof lights can be created and removed by the player using the Roofing Gadget. They can also be removed by placing any wall directly underneath.

While many areas of the world do not initially contain natural roof light, some instances will cause it to generate, such as the thunder beams spawned from the Soul of Azeos will create roof lights in the process of generating the beams. Cave-ins, while rare, will also create roof lights where the Fallen Rocks land.
