Spawning tiles are tiles which have a chance to spawn enemies during a "spawn event", which occurs every 15-22 minutes. Spawning tiles do not spawn enemies if a player is within 6 tiles.
Spawning tiles can be placed over any ground to begin spawning enemies. If two spawning tiles are placed on a single tile, the spawning tile on the uppermost layer will be the only one active. Light sources do not affect spawn rate, however placing a torch on top of a spawning tile will prevent enemies from spawning.
Most blocks, walls and furniture placed on top of a spawning tile will prevent spawning except for Conveyor Belts and Spike Traps.
