The Sunken Sea is a biome located in the outer layer of the world, beyond the Great Wall. It is intended to be the second of the three outer layer biomes the player visits. It is made up of beaches and oceans, making a Boat essential for travel.
The Forlorn Metropolis and Shimmering Frontier sub-biomes generate within the Sunken Sea.

Small Pier Sunken Sea • Maximum of 2 per world A cove with a small pier. The Seashell Chest always contains a Pearl Lantern, Octarine Fishing Rod, Bubble Pearl, Sun Pincher (2) and Octarine Ore (15). Cove Stash Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world A cove guarded by four Tentacles. There are four Locked Octarine Chests and a Blue Glass Pedestal that always contains a Solarite Bar in the middle. Underneath the two Wooden Core signs are dig spots containing a total of two Octarine Keys Sea Harbor Town Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world Giant Conch Shell Island Turtle Statue Island Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world Contains lots of Beach Digging Spots, one of which always drops a Turtle Shell. Coral Island Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world A coral-themed island. The Seashell Chest in the middle always contains Coral Wood (15), Petrified Coral (3), Forked Coral (3), Coral Ring and Coral Amulet. Fishing Islets Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world The Seashell Chest contains a Wood Fishing Rod, Tin Fishing Rod, Iron Fishing Rod, Scarlet Fishing Rod and Spicy Bait (5). The Fishing Net Racks contain a Golden Dart, Bottom Tracer and a White Coralotl. Octarine Island Beached Caveling Ship Island Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world An island featuring a large shipwreck. The Seashell Chest always contains an Oceanheart Necklace. Skeleton Island Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world An island with a skeleton of a giant sea creature. The Seashell Chest always contains a Spine Ring. Glyph Parchment Treasury Sunken Sea • Always generates • Approximately 500 tiles from The Core The door can be unlocked using the Admin Key. The Titan's Chest at the back always contains the Glyph Parchment, Golden Whistle, Golden Caveling Mask, Gold Bar (25), Ancient Gemstone (15), Caveling Perfume and a Caveling Medal. There are also four Blue Glass Pedestals that always contain a Caveling Effigy. Sea Melody Room (style 1) Sunken Sea • Maximum of 2 per world The door can be opened by playing the notes The Seashell Chest always contains an Octarine Key, Golden Jellyfish and Anchor Axe, alongside loot that would normally be found inside the Locked Galaxite Chest. Lone City Island Sunken Sea • Maximum of 1 per world A small Forlorn Metropolis-themed island. The Mannequin always contains a Scholar's Hood and Scholar's Cloak.
